The Twycross zoo celebrated a special event for Europe's oldest ape, Coco.
On Sunday, April 2, the female chimpanzee turned 58 years old, and the zoo held a party with many treats among her favorite foods. Coco has lived at the same facility since 1969 and has been an incredible ambassador for her species. In addition, she is the mother of Jambo, the zoo's dominant male chimpanzee, and has a large family of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In this photo gallery we celebrate the chimpanzee's longevity and her importance to the zoo's animal community Twycross.
