A touching story, but with a happy ending, comes from Italy, specifically from a building in Rome, the capital of the Belpaese, where a little kitten was stuck in the pipes. The 'cries for help' alerted the apartment blocks, who then notified the fire brigade.
It took more than nine hours of intervention, and the use of an oxygen mask, to complete the rescue operation. Fortunately, the kitten quickly recovered and was not seriously injured.
There was also great gratitude from the residents, who were especially relieved by the skills and good intentions of the neighbourhood fire brigade. Now, they said, they feel calmer.

It was only a few days ago that news broke of a very special rescue, in the centre of Rome, involving a tiny kitten that was stuck in the pipes of a residential building.
The intervention of the fire brigade was much more complicated than expected, as the kitten was stuck at the bottom of a very narrow and very long pipe. They also had to try not to injure the animal in the rescue operation.
The residents alerted the fire brigade after hearing meowing from inside the wall. The rescuers were then helped by the residents of the building themselves, who did not hesitate and helped bring the small, visibly frightened kitten to the surface.
Once extracted from the pipe, the kitten was ventilated with an oxygen mask to help her breathe. In the end, all went well, with the kitten alive and well, albeit frightened. Residents commented on the rescue: 'From today, we are calmer in knowing that you, the fire brigade, are there for us, that we can always count on your big heart.
