Glasswinged butterfly (Greta oto)
The glasswinged butterfly has transparent wings that make it difficult for predatory birds to follow. The opaque edges of its wings are dark brown sometimes with red or orange streaks. Glass butterflies (Greta oto) live in tropical areas of Central America and between Mexico and Panama.

Monarch butterfly (Danaus plexippus)
The monarch butterfly is probably the best known butterfly in all of North America. The monarch is the 'national insect' of the states of Alabama, Idaho, Illinois and Texas, and the 'national butterfly' of Minnesota, Vermont and West Virginia. In 1989, it was named the 'national insect' of the United States of America.

Menelaus blue morpho (Morpho menelaus)
This species has iridescent metallic blue wings; the females, unlike the males, have a broad black terminal band with white spots. Adult males have more vivid colours. It has a wingspan of 15 cm. Butterflies of the genus Morpho are found in Mexico, Brazil, Costa Rica, Panama and Venezuela. They dwell in sheltered areas of the forest and rarely in open areas.

Two-tailed pasha (Charaxes jasius)
The two-tailed pasha is a medium to large butterfly, having a wingspan of 70 to 80 mm. Seen from above, the butterfly has dark brown wings with orange edges.The species is widespread in the coastal area of the Mediterranean basin and sub-Saharan Africa. Its typical habitat is Mediterranean scrubland, up to 700-800 meters altitude.

The red admiral(Vanessa atalanta)
This large butterfly can be recognised by the vivid dark brown, white and orange pattern, with two small indigo spots, of its wings, which reach an average wingspan of 45-50 mm. The adult of this species lives for about eleven months. It is one of the last butterfly species that can be spotted in northern Europe before the arrival of winter, often alighting on ivy flowers on sunny days.

High brown fritillary
The High brown fritillary is a large, brightly colored butterfly in the family Nymphalidae, native to Europe and across the Palearctic to Japan. It is known to be Britain's most endangered butterfly and is listed as a vulnerable species under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.

The common grass yellow is a small butterfly species found in Asia, Africa and Australia. They are the fairly small butterflies, easily recognized by their bright yellow wings and their habit of congregating in small groups on patches of sand or moist soil.
