The proboscis monkey (Nasalis larvatus)
The distinguishing feature of the species is the large pendulous nasal appendage, which is particularly pronounced in adult male individuals in whom, in old age, it can reach seventeen centimetres. The exact function of such a large nose is unclear: according to some it serves as a sexual lure, for others it is a heat dispersal mechanism. (source: Wikipedia)

A special investigation
In 2011, an investigation in the American Journal of Primatology showed that monkeys are easily recognisable during rain as it enters their nostrils and forces them to sneeze uncontrollably. On rainy days you can see how they hide by tucking their heads between their legs to prevent the rain from entering their noses. (Source: kodami.co.uk/)
